> Do NOT leave a thermos containing a mixture concentrated vinegar and baking soda closed (2026.01.21)
I learnt that the hard way. My thermos has tea stains which I wanted to get rid of. I put baking soda, concentrated vinegar and detergent in the thermos, closed it and shook it to mix everything together. Then, I left it shut while doing other stuff. A few minutes later the lid of the thermos blew off and hit the palm of my hand really hard. How could such a small amount of the mixture produce so much carbon dioxide?
