> People may seem more considerate when you change your surroundings, but eventually people turn out to be the same everywhere (2025.11.03)
I went back home to KL and I was behaving in a way that was really selfish, i.e. standing near the exit of lifts or subways, because if you don't do that in Frankfurt, you will never be able to exit before the hordes of people rush in OR others will block you and still take forever to exit. In KL, people gravitate towards the back to make space which I somehow forgot. That is obviously considerate, and people do automatically make space. I clearly adjusted my behavior and thought that civic awareness is nice. A few days later though I witnessed inconsiderate behavior in the gym. On a 36 degree day, someone entered the gym and turned off all the air conditioning and fans. Hence, there are selfish people everywhere.Â
